What to see
Deauville is known for its long sandy beach, colourful parasols and Les Planches, the wooden boardwalk lined with beach cabins named after film stars of the American Film Festival. Trouville, across the river, is older and more relaxed, with a fish market and a promenade of seaside villas.
Getting there
Trains from Paris Saint-Lazare reach Trouville-Deauville in about two hours, with more services at weekends and in summer. Honfleur is about 20 minutes away by bus or car.
